| Site Investigation
ExCAL offer a comprehensive site
investigation service. Recent site investigations have been
undertaken for:
- IPPC permit applications
- The waste management sector
- Contaminated land remediation
- Environmental impact assessments
- Land reclamation
- Land development
Site investigations can be carried out via trial pits or
boreholes to enable the collection of soil and groundwater
samples to identify the level of contamination. A number
of different borehole drilling techniques can be used including
cable percussive (shell and auger), rotary auger, rotary percussive
and window sampling.

To ensure all our site investigations are carried out to the highest
standards the protocols and procedures outlined in the latest British standards are strictly followed
by our consultants.
On-site testing (chemical and physical) can be carried out on
water samples for many determinants and parameters over a range
of concentrations. Chemical analysis for key critical organic contaminants
can also be undertaken on-site using enzyme techniques (Ensys kits)
on both water and soil samples for:
- Polychlorinatedbiphenyls(PCBs)
- Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)
- Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPHs)
- Polychlorinated phenols (PCPs)
